How AI chat memory works

AI chat memory is not a word-for-word record that the model consults perfectly on every turn. A reply can draw on recent messages and selected saved information. NariYume uses conversation history and remembered details to support continuity, but a detail can still be missed or misunderstood.

Reviewed:

Context and saved details

Recent context helps a reply follow the exchange happening now. Saved details can help later conversations refer back to something discussed before. These serve different purposes: keeping a transcript does not mean every line of it appears in every request.

A summary can also lose nuance. If a plan changes from Friday to Saturday, the useful question is whether the conversation now reflects Saturday, not whether an old message remains in the chat history.

Give a clear correction

When a detail is wrong, state the replacement directly. For example: “The trip is on Saturday now, not Friday.” Then continue with the topic. A short correction is often clearer than asking the character to reconstruct a long sequence of changes.

For a story, a brief recap can help: where the scene is, who is present and what has happened. You do not need to repeat the entire conversation.

Try continuity over time

Use an ordinary, non-sensitive detail when testing memory, such as a game you are playing or a recipe you want to try. Return to it later and see whether the reply follows the update.

One recalled detail does not establish perfect recall. One missed detail does not tell you why it was missed. Evaluate the experience over several conversations rather than relying on a single screenshot.

What NariYume offers

Nari and Yume can use shared conversation history and saved details across visits. This supports ongoing topics; it is not a promise of permanent or unlimited memory. Their reply can be wrong, and you can correct it in the conversation.

Stored history, saved memory and account deletion are data-handling questions as well as product features. The Privacy Policy explains the relevant storage and deletion behaviour.
