NariYume's characters are generative AI for companionship and entertainment — they are not real people, not therapists, and not a crisis service. This page describes the safeguards we maintain.

Our self-harm & suicide protocol

We maintain a protocol to prevent the chatbot from producing suicidal-ideation or self-harm content, and to refer users who express such thoughts to crisis services:

The characters do not engage with self-harm, suicide, or methods. Safety instructions take priority over every other behavior, and user messages cannot override them.
Deterministic crisis referral. Independently of the AI's reply, the app screens each message for expressions of self-harm or suicidal ideation and, on a match, surfaces the crisis resources above in a dedicated notification. The hotline details are fixed in the app — never generated by the AI — so they are always accurate.
No advice. The characters do not provide medical, clinical, or crisis counseling.

AI disclosure

NariYume's characters are clearly identified as AI and will tell you so if asked. They are not human and do not have real-world history.

Reporting

We have zero tolerance for objectionable, abusive, or harmful content. You can report any reply directly from within the app with the flag button. Reports are reviewed, and we may remove content or restrict accounts that break our Content Policy or Terms of Service.

Web app age eligibility

NariYume is for adults aged 18 or older, on the web and in any mobile app. Sign-up requires an age confirmation, and a birthday below 18 cannot complete the profile.
